LITERATURE REVIEW : PEMANFAATAN BAHAN ALAM SEBAGAI AGEN FOTOPROTEKTIF DALAM KOSMETIK TABIR SURYA

Paparan sinar ultraviolet (UV) dari matahari dapat menimbulkan berbagai efek merugikan bagi kulit, termasuk penuaan dini, kanker kulit, dan hiperpigmentasi. Sementara itu, penggunaan tabir surya sintetis dengan bahan aktif kimiawi seperti oksibenzon dan avobenzon berpotensi menyebabkan iritasi kulit serta menimbulkan dampak negatif terhadap lingkungan perairan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan alternatif yang lebih aman dan ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meninjau potensi ekstrak tanaman sebagai agen fotoprotektif alami dalam formulasi kosmetik tabir surya. Kajian dilakukan melalui metode tinjauan pustaka (literature review) terhadap artikel yang diperoleh dari basis data ScienceDirect, PubMed, dan Google Scholar menggunakan kata kunci plant extract, photoprotective, sunscreen, dan cosmetics. Dari total 27 artikel yang ditemukan, sebanyak 15 artikel yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi digunakan sebagai literatur utama. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa berbagai ekstrak tanaman seperti Gardenia jasminoides, Oryza sativa var. merah, Olea europaea, dan Fragaria x ananassa memiliki nilai Sun Protection Factor (SPF) tinggi, bahkan mencapai kategori ultra proteksi. Senyawa bioaktif di dalamnya, seperti flavonoid, polifenol, antosianin, dan vitamin C, berperan penting dalam memberikan aktivitas antioksidan, antiinflamasi, serta proteksi DNA terhadap stres oksidatif akibat radiasi UV. Beberapa formulasi yang dikombinasikan dengan filter UV sintetis atau teknologi modern seperti nanopartikel dan solid lipid nanoparticles terbukti meningkatkan efektivitas, kestabilan, serta keamanan produk. Secara keseluruhan, hasil tinjauan ini menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak tanaman berpotensi besar untuk dikembangkan sebagai bahan aktif alami pada kosmetik tabir surya yang efektif, aman digunakan, serta ramah terhadap lingkungan.References
