STUDI KORELASI ANGKA BUNUH DIRI DAN DEPRESI DI DUNIA

Bunuh diri merupakan masalah kesehatan masyarakat dunia yang sangat serius karena berdampak besar pada individu, keluarga, dan masyarakat. Tindakan ini termasuk dalam dua puluh penyebab utama kematian di seluruh dunia, dengan hampir delapan ratus ribu orang meninggal setiap tahunnya. Perilaku bunuh diri memiliki hubungan erat dengan berbagai gangguan jiwa, terutama gangguan depresi. Gejala depresi seperti merasa tidak berguna, tidak memiliki harapan, atau merasa putus asa sering menjadi faktor risiko yang meningkatkan kerentanan seseorang terhadap bunuh diri. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian analitik dengan memanfaatkan data sekunder dari website wisevoter.com yang mencakup informasi dari 194 negara. Data tersebut kemudian disajikan dalam bentuk grafik scatterplot untuk melihat pola hubungan antara angka bunuh diri dan prevalensi depresi secara global. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada tahun 2021 tidak terdapat korelasi antara angka bunuh diri dan depresi. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa bunuh diri tidak hanya dipengaruhi oleh depresi, tetapi juga oleh berbagai faktor lain seperti kondisi sosial ekonomi, kualitas dukungan sosial, budaya, stigma, serta kemungkinan underreport pada data yang digunakan. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya meningkatkan koordinasi dan kolaborasi di berbagai sektor masyarakat untuk memperkuat upaya penanganan kesehatan mental serta pencegahan bunuh diri secara lebih komprehensif dan berkelanjutan demi kesehatan bersama masyarakat luas.References
