LITERATURE REVIEW : PENGARUH INTERMITTENT FASTING TERHADAP PENURUNAN KADAR HBA1C PENDERITA DIABETES DI ASIA

Diabetes merupakan penyakit kronis yang dapat menyebabkan komplikasi serius dan meningkatkan risiko kematian. Menurut International Diabetes Federation, 60% populasi diabetes global tinggal di wilayah Asia. Salah satu indikator penting dalam pengelolaan diabetes adalah kadar hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), yang menggambarkan pengendalian glukosa darah. Intermittent fasting (IF) telah dipertimbangkan sebagai metode non-farmakologis untuk mengontrol kadar glukosa darah, namun efeknya pada penderita diabetes di wilayah Asia masih belum banyak dibahas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh intermittent fasting terhadap penurunan kadar HbA1c pada penderita diabetes tipe 2 di wilayah Asia. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan literature review dengan memilih artikel yang dipublikasikan antara tahun 2018 hingga 2024. Penelusuran literatur dilakukan menggunakan database MEDLINE, CENTRAL, dan ProQuest, serta dengan hand search pada referensi artikel terkait. Kriteria inklusi melibatkan studi dengan populasi penderita diabetes tipe 2 di Asia yang menerapkan intermittent fasting. Artikel yang tidak memenuhi kriteria, seperti penelitian dengan subjek hewan, dikeluarkan dari analisis. Didapatkan 23 artikel dari tiga database yang ditelusuri. Setelah diseleksi berdasarkan kriteria inklusi dan eklusi diperolah lima artikel ditambah dua artikel dari hand search. Tujuh artikel disertakan dalam analisis utama. Semua studi menunjukkan penurunan yang signifikan pada kadar HbA1c dan glukosa puasa pada penderita diabetes yang menjalani intervensi intermittent fasting. Intermittent fasting dapat menjadi alternatif pengobatan nonfarmakologis untuk menurunkan kadar HbA1c pada penderita diabetes tipe 2 di Asia. Penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk melihat dampak jangka panjang dan kaitannya dengan penggunaan insulin pada pasien dengan durasi penyakit yang lebih lama.References
