Abstract: Conceptually, constructivism learning theory with independent learning is a very good framework as an effort to develop the potential of students. However, in practice, several problems were found that hindered the implementation of the concept of independent learning and constructivist learning theory. In addition, the understanding of teachers and schools regarding the concept of independent learning and constructivism learning theory is also not very clear. This article will try to explain related to the concept of independent learning in the view of constructivism learning theory and Islamic education. This research uses library research, or library research methods. namely the author collects data from various literary sources related to the concept of independent learning, constructivism learning theory and Islamic religious education. In the theory of constructivism learning, not only does the teacher provide knowledge to students, but students also have to play an active role in building their own knowledge that is in their brain memory. Freedom of learning is not only the teacher is free from his daily tasks but students also have the freedom to determine which knowledge is needed. This is in accordance with the nature of Islamic education itself. Because the Prophet in teaching and educating his companions applied learning that was fun and liberating, fun and free here should not be interpreted as a pleasure and freedom without essence, but must be used as a spirit to increase knowledge. Keywords: Freedom to learn, Constructivism, Islamic Religious Education.Downloads
