Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami peran vital penyu dalam menjaga keseimbangan ekosistem laut dan mengidentifikasi masalah yang memengaruhi keanekaragaman hayati di Taman Nasional Karimunjawa. Metodologi yang digunakan melibatkan monitoring keanekaragaman hayati menggunakan Indeks Shannon-Wiener untuk mengukur stabilitas komunitas penyu di wilayah tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Taman Nasional Karimunjawa memiliki indeks keanekaragaman hayati sebesar 0,495, yang mengindikasikan stabilitas komunitas yang rendah. Hal ini mencerminkan adanya tekanan yang signifikan terhadap ekosistem, baik dari faktor alami maupun aktivitas manusia, seperti perburuan liar, perusakan habitat, dan perubahan iklim. Meskipun Program Penetasan Semi Alami (PENSI) berhasil meningkatkan jumlah penyu yang ditetaskan, berbagai kendala masih menghambat keberhasilan program ini, termasuk suhu inkubasi yang tidak stabil dan tingginya angka pencurian telur penyu. Selain itu, minimnya partisipasi generasi muda dalam upaya konservasi juga menjadi tantangan yang perlu segera diatasi. Kesimpulannya, perlindungan habitat penyu, pengurangan ancaman terhadap spesies ini, dan peningkatan partisipasi masyarakat dalam upaya konservasi harus menjadi prioritas utama untuk memastikan keberlanjutan program konservasi di Taman Nasional Karimunjawa. Integrasi teknologi modern dan pengembangan ekowisata berbasis konservasi dapat menjadi solusi jangka panjang yang memberikan manfaat bagi ekosistem laut dan kesejahteraan masyarakat setempat.
