Background: Continuity of Care (CoC) is an essential model in maternal and newborn health services. However, CoC provided by midwifery students often stops after family planning services due to limited academic practice schedules. This study explored the potential use of telemedicine as a strategy to maintain CoC provided by midwifery students. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of telemedicine in supporting midwifery students to maintain continuity of care for mothers and newborns in Padang, Indonesia. Methods: A mixed-methods study was conducted involving 20 midwifery students and 20 mothers who received CoC in Padang, Indonesia. Quantitative data were collected through structured questionnaires measuring satisfaction, accessibility, and continuity of care. Qualitative data were obtained from in-depth interviews and focus group discussions (FGD). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. Results: Quantitative findings showed that 85% of mothers were satisfied with telemedicine services, and 78% of students reported improved confidence in maintaining contact with clients. Thematic analysis revealed three key benefits: increased accessibility, improved maternal education, and enhanced student learning. Challenges included internet connectivity issues and limited digital literacy among some mothers. Conclusion: Telemedicine is a feasible and effective tool to sustain CoC by midwifery students. Integration into clinical education is recommended to strengthen maternal and neonatal health services in Indonesia.Downloads
