Abstrak Anak usia dasar seringkali mengalami masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut terutama karies gigi. Mengantisipasi gangguan kesehatan gigi perlu dilakukan perawatan gigi sejak usia dini. To prevent dental health issues, dental care should be initiated at an early age. This study aims to analyze the relationship between oral hygiene (OHI-S) and dental damage (DMF-T) with the imbalance of oral bacteria in students of SD Negeri Bujel 03 Kediri. The method used is a cross-sectional design with a sample of 200 students selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected through the measurement of oral hygiene using OHI-S and dental caries using DMF-T. Data analysis was performed using Spearman's correlation statistical test to measure the bacterial imbalance in the oral cavity through saliva samples. The results indicate a significant relationship between poor OHI-S scores and very high DMF-T scores, suggesting that poor oral hygiene contributes to the increased incidence of caries in children. These findings highlight the importance of dental health education at the elementary school level to prevent the development of more serious oral health problems in the future.
