Abstract

Subsidies for fuel oil (BBM) have been an instrument of policy used by the Indonesian government to maintain the purchasing power of the people. However, the effectiveness of BBM subsidies in reducing economic inequality remains a subject of debate. This study aims to analyze whether BBM subsidies play more of a role as a solution to alleviate inequality or if they become a fiscal burden that hinders development. The method used is a literature study from various journal sources, government data, and reports from international institutions.
