POTENSI CURCULIGO LATIFOLIA SEBAGAI ALTERNATIF ARTIFICIAL SWEETENER ANTIDIABETIK : LITERATUR REVIEW

Diabetes melitus merupakan penyakit metabolik kronis yang ditandai oleh tingginya kadar glukosa darah akibat gangguan sekresi atau kerja insulin. Salah satu pendekatan dalam penanggulangan diabetes adalah pengurangan konsumsi gula dan penggunaan pemanis alami sebagai alternatif yang lebih aman. Curculigo latifolia, tumbuhan asli Asia Tenggara, dikenal memiliki senyawa kurkulin yang memberikan rasa manis intens namun tidak berkalori, serta menunjukkan potensi aktivitas antidiabetik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji potensi Curculigo latifolia sebagai pemanis alami sekaligus agen antidiabetik melalui telaah literatur. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi literatur sistematis terhadap artikel ilmiah yang relevan dari database seperti PubMed, ScienceDirect, dan Google Scholar selama kurun waktu 2018–2025. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa senyawa kurkulin dalam C. latifolia memiliki kemampuan merangsang rasa manis pada lidah tanpa memengaruhi kadar glukosa darah. Selain itu, ekstrak tanaman ini juga mengandung senyawa bioaktif seperti flavonoid dan fenolik yang berpotensi sebagai antioksidan dan inhibitor enzim α-glukosidase serta α-amilase, yang berperan dalam pengendalian glukosa darah. Dengan demikian, Curculigo latifolia memiliki potensi ganda sebagai pemanis alami dan agen antidiabetik, namun penelitian lanjutan, khususnya uji klinis, masih dibutuhkan untuk validasi efektivitas dan keamanannya dalam penggunaan jangka panjang.References
