Abstract

The increase in the number of vehicles such as motorbikes, cars and other types of vehicles in the Kampar Regency area includes the Pekanbaru-Bangkinang Highway section which stretches from KM 56 to KM 59 in Kampar Regency. Because it is the main road for land transportation, this section of highway is very important for the growth of the national road network in Riau Province and for regional development. This research aims to identify the correlation between vehicle volume and road damage on flexible pavement. Three observation points, namely in the Batu Belah, Kumantan and Bangkinang areas, were used in this research. The survey in this research was carried out for seven days to collect primary data regarding the type, area and volume of road traffic as well as secondary data regarding road geometry. In assessing the level of road damage, regression tests and vehicle volume analysis methods are used, known as the layer damage index. Several variables, such as light vehicles (X1), heavy vehicles (X2), motorbikes (X3), and non-motorized vehicles (X4), were identified as factors that could influence the level of road damage, although the last variable did not appear to have a significant impact. The amount of road damage and the volume of vehicles are related. Road damage caused by the number of light, heavy vehicles and motorbikes has a proportion of 100%, which is shown by the result R2 = 1,000 and the value of road damage (Y), Y = 0.015 X1 + 0.042 X2 + 0.037 18.187) is an equation that represents the relationship between light vehicles (X1), heavy vehicles (X2), motorbikes (X3), non-motorized vehicles (X4), and the value of road damage (Y).
