Abstract

According to The Global Status Report On Road Safety, the number of people who die due to traffic accidents is 1.35 million every year. Road traffic injuries are now the leading cause of death in people aged 5 to 29 years. A fracture is a condition where a bone breaks repeatedly, determined based on the type and extent. Fractures can result from direct blows, crushing forces, sudden twisting movements, and even excessive muscle contractions. The nursing action taken to reduce anxiety in this study was to teach patients to carry out Progressive Muscle Relaxation Therapy. Progressive Muscle Relaxation is a relaxation therapy that involves tightening and relaxing the muscles in one part of the body at a time to create a feeling of physical relaxation. This research aims to find out how nursing care is for Mr. S with post-ORIF surgery for indications of a femur fracture through Progressive Muscle Relaxation therapy to reduce anxiety in the Edelweis room at Arifin Achmad Hospital Pekanbaru, this research was conducted on May 8 2023. The results of the study showed a reduction in anxiety due to post-ORIF surgery for indications of a femur fracture. It is hoped that respondents who experience anxiety can provide Progressive Muscle Relaxation techniques to reduce anxiety in clients after ORIF surgery for indications of a femur fracture.
