Abstract

Hasil penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa masyarakat Indonesia di era reformasi ini menginginkan sistem politik yang terbuka, begitu pula dengan sistem pers nasional. Pers diharapkan  mengacu pada agenda publik di mana sumber informasi begitu bervariasi, yang dapat dijadikan bahan liputan media massa. Dengan mekanisme kerja pers yang seperti ini, diharapkan pers menjadi agent of social control yang efektif dalam mengangkat ketimpangan-ketimpangan yang terjadi. Keterkaitan agenda setting media massa dengan proses mengambil suatu keputusan dapat dilihat dalam konteks pembentukan pendapat umum (public opinion).
