Abstract

Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan bentuk dan proses abreviasi pada media sosial. Penelitian ini tergolong kepada penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data yaitu dokumentasi, dengan cara menonton, tangkap layar, membaca, dan menulis. Data  dianalisis dengan langkah-langkah mereduksi data, mengategorikan data, menyajikan data, dan menyimpulkan. Hasil penelitian adalah fenomena abreviasi pada media sosial yaitu terbagi atas bentuk dan proses abreviasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bentuk abreviasi yakni abreviasi singkatan, abreviasi penggalan, abreviasi akronim, abreviasi kontraksi, dan abreviasi lambang huruf. Berdasarkan data proses abreviasi pada media sosial terdapat tiga proses, yaitu pengekalan huruf, pengekalan suku kata, dan pengekalan  huruf dan suku kata.
