HUBUNGAN ANTARA KEJADIAN CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME DENGAN HIPOTIROIDISME

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) adalah sindrom neurokompresi saraf perifer yang paling umum. Penyebab umum CTS adalah kondisi seperti hipotiroidisme, kehamilan, menopause, obesitas, diabetes, dan lain-lain. Hubungan antara CTS dan hipotiroidisme bervariasi, berkisar antara 7 hingga 92 persen. Beberapa penelitian juga melaporkan tingginya prevalensi CTS pada pasien hipotiroid. Penting untuk melakukan penelitian yang menggambarkan hubungan antara CTS dan hipotiroidisme, karena diagnosis dini diperlukan untuk menangani kedua kondisi tersebut. Penulis mencari, menyeleksi, dan memilih jurnal yang berkaitan dengan hubungan CTS dengan hipotiroid melalui beberapa database penelitian antara lain ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, PubMed, dan Wiley. Penelusuran penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan kata kunci “carpal tunnel syndrome” dan “hipotiroidisme”. Hasil dari pencarian literatur sejumlah 1.499 jurnal dengan 25 jurnal memenuhi kriteria seleksi melalui judul dan abstrak, dan 10 penelitian yang akan dianalisis lebih lanjut. Berbagai studi menunjukkan bahwa kejadian CTS berhubungan dengan hipotiroidisme. CTS pada pasien hipotiroid terjadi karena deposit musin atau mukopolisakarida pada saraf median. Skrining tiroid disarankan menjadi pemeriksaan rutin bagi pasien CTS sebagai diagnosis dini dan memperbaiki prognosis pasien. CTS dapat diatasi pada pasien hipotiroid dengan menggunakan terapi penggantian hormon. Kejadian CTS berhubungan erat dengan kondisi hipotiroidisme.References
