Abstract

Pre-mixed Buton Asphalt (asbuton) is type of modified asphalt widely used in Indonesia, especially for road construction. This material is produced by mixing Buton asphalt with penetration-grade asphalt 60/70 at the factory before being distributed to the project site. Pre-mixed asbuton is a promising alternative material for road construction in Indonesia. With its advantages in stability, durability, and environmental friendliness, pre-mixed asbuton can help enhance the quality and resilience of road infrastructure in the country. The purity level of pre-mixed asbuton is at least 90%, meaning it contains up to 10% fine minerals. This type of pre-mixed asbuton is processed in mobile containers and directly circulated into the Asphalt Mixing Plant (AMP) without the addition of penetration asphalt 60/70, producing hot mix asphalt equivalent to that made with modified asphalt. Laboratory testing has shown that asphalt mixtures using pre-mixed asbuton exhibit better technical properties than conventional asphalt mixtures (made using penetration asphalt 60/70).
